DEMA

This week I went to my first DEMA (Diving Equipment & Marketing Association). Its a week long convention where most dive manufactorues, companies and stores come to show of their new gear for the year and of course make sales.

CP talked me into going this year which was being held in Orlando FL. So I used one of my free trips from Southwest and went. CP is an amazing photographer and he brought his portfolio and was showing it to all the magazines. Keep an eye out, you will for sure see his pics in magaizines. He also takes all the pics that I use to make and sell the 130Down Scuba Tshirts

We mainly just walked around and looked at all the dive boths and destinations. Two places I really want to go now is Sipadan Water Village in Borneo, Malaysia. The other place is Fiji. CP and I stopped by the Fiji booth and they were serving Kava. Kava is all natural and made from a root. It looks like dirty water, and it tastes like dirty water but man does it make you feel good. Kava is used in ceremonies in the islands, we simulated the ceremonies there. 1st you clap once before they give you a bowl of it, then after drinking it you clap 3 times. CP and I went back a couple of times.

Another cool booth was one for the upcoming movie Sharkwater. Its a documentary on the overfishing, the illegal finning and all the misconceptions of sharks. I really cant wait to see it.
CP and I also got to hang out with fellow Fin Tester Cathy and the guys from ScubaDiving Magazine Bill Kendig and John Brumm.
It was a great time and I cant wait to go again next year.
